“I don’t need an estate plan. I am not wealthy and don’t have many assets.”

Doing nothing is an option; but not a good one. When a Wisconsin resident passes away with over $50,000 of assets in their name, that individual’s estate will need to be administered through the Probate process. Probate can cost thousands of dollars and can take months, and sometimes years, to complete. A little know fact is that the general public can access personal information about you and your loved ones, such as the value of your estate and the identities and, sometimes the addresses of your beneficiaries.

You should discuss your particular situation with a qualified estate planning attorney to determine what estate planning tools are right for you and your budget.
